Abstract

The Church is the body of believers in Christ Jesus. God’s vineyard is expected to be glorious, without spots or wrinkles. The Reformation in the 16th century brought denominational split and today, we have different denominations with different theological ideas. This paper looks at the reasons for the proliferation of churches, the impacts of such proliferation especially the negative ones on Christianity. These negative impacts include commercialization of the gospel, selling of indulgences, corruption, false prophecies, indecent dressing by members, immorality, greed, pride among other unbiblical practices. Such practices do not speak well for the church of Christ. As it happened in the days of the early reformation. The paper provides reformation areas and or solutions to the decadence in the church.
