INSTITUTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL ADAPTABILITY OF BANKS IN ASABA, DELTA STATE
Abstract
This study examined the relationship between institutional leadership and organizational adaptability of Deposit Money Banks in Asaba, Delta State. Cross-sectional research design was adopted in studying the eight selected banks. From the field survey, fifty-eight (58) copies of the questionnaire were retrieved and analyzed using Spearman's Rank order correlation coefficient statistical tool which was adopted in order to determine the relationship existing between the variables. The findings revealed that the dimensions of institutional leadership namely; internal consistency, development of external supporting mechanisms and overcoming external enemies exhibited a significant relationship with organizational adaptability. It was then concluded that organizations that are institutional in their leadership, structures/designs and the utilization of dynamic capabilities possessed are resilient and adaptable. This gave rise to the recommendation that organizations operating in this era of stiff competition should adopt institutional leadership and develop key strategies to effectively utilize their current competencies as well as being strategically positioned to take advantage of opportunities in the business environment in order to remain competitive and adaptive.
